Daily Drena: Exploring Town

It was a beautiful day today, so we hopped on our bikes and headed on down to explore. It’s a pretty little town, with a church, a tiny store (which was closed due to siesta again, grrr!), a restaurant, and a little square. And that’s about it, hah. It’s very small, but Lorena ran into an old lady who tried starting up a conversation (I was off taking photos in the previous little square). By the time I joined back up, a brief conversation had ensued, involving what little Spanish we know, hand motions, and a lot of laughing by the old lady (we’re still not sure if she was laughing with us, or at us, but we think it was at us…).

Daily Drena: Paella Chefs

Today, we decided to go explore the river nearby, so we hopped on our bikes and went down to a location that was marked on a map lying around the house. It led us to a small waterfall and some ponds that were quite pretty, so we relaxed down there for a little while before returning home.

Tonight, we attempted to make paella! We found a paella pan in the kitchen, so we thought, why not?! We followed a recipe we found online, but made a number of modifications due to the supplies we had on hand. We made a chicken paella, although more traditional is either rabbit, chorizo, or shrimp. It was quite yummy, but we need to work on it more to perfect it – it still needs some spices and we didn’t have enough veggies in it.

Man Makes Fire.

Daily Drena: Coziness

No farmhouse would be complete without a fire. Enough said.
