Daily Drena: Farmhouse!
We have decided to get a taste of the country life and have rented a farmhouse outside the tiny town of Cistella for almost three weeks. We’ve been looking forward to this ever since we came across it online, thinking it was out of our budget. But we managed to score it for an awesome discount, partly since it’s the off season again, and partly because we just asked. The excitement as we drive up the country road, wondering which house is ours, is comparable to a little kid’s on Christmas Eve. (Plus, the adrenaline runs high wondering if Blacky 2 is going to encounter a patch too rough for his abilities.) One stream crossing and multiple switchbacks later, we have arrived and it’s exactly what we are hoping! The views are gorgeous, the deck is awesome, there are two hammocks and a pingpong table, it’s quiet, and it’s full of old Spanish farmhouse charm.
The language here is Catalan, but it’s actually a good thing today. Our nice neighbor who welcomes us speaks only a little Spanish, just like us! So we are able to converse in Special Spanish without too much trouble.
Talk to ya’ll later – we’re checking out for a while!
- Our breakfast buddies.
- Breakfast at our hotel, along with a Connect Four beatdown. (L-5, D-0)
- The hotel we stayed at had a pretty watercolor painting of Peniscola, so we drove in the opposite direction to take a quick view of the village..
- It was pretty, but pretty touristy too. Great for retirees.
- Sand dance!
- On the drive.
- Our newest friend welcomed us our first night. He hopped in right through the (large) crack under the door.
- Drew in the hammock.
- There are mountains there, but it’s too hazy to see them right now.
Oooohhh… I am loving it! Extra rooms for Mom and Dad? We’re on our way to escape mud season. he,he
